The Pilgrimage
Well, It fits:
so I headed out to Fort Hunter and then on to Canajoharie. Here's a neat church in Fultonville:
Here's the trail. It's an old railroad with a crushed gravel surface:
you parallel the Mohawk:
and ride through some Amish areas:
I decided to turn around in Sprakers:
and then headed over to the National Shrine of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha:
Kateri was a Mohawk native American who converted to Catholicism and was beatified by Pope benedict XVI.
The shrine itself dates from the 1780's and is worth a visit.
I guess the next time I'm out that way, I'll have to if I can make up the hill to the National Shrine of the North American Martyrs
