The Place beyond the pines
well, I took a little trip this past weekend:
I went to Memphis for an interview. Not much picture taking. This is the only other shot:
well, I lied:
And now, back upstate. Modern Lock:
and old style:
Say hello to Lawrence the Indian.
"Schenectady" is Mohawk for "Place beyond the Pines", and yes, the current movie is set and was filmed there.
Speaking of pines:
And I guess I'll have to get a later start next time:

Riding with the Dead
I was debating what to do this morning. I knew I wanted to ride, but the weather called for 20 mph winds with 50mph gusts.
I decided on the Corning trail. Need to march off those pounds? I do:
Stopping at the Troy lock gave me another idea:
Not many folks out:
and Cohoes falls is really going:
and I made a stop at Dunkin to Honor Nancy and Don with a boston creme:
and tomorrow? a different kind of ride:

Canajoharie
I took a trip out to Canajoharie, NY this afternoon. It started out as a Indian village, and is now a small town best known as the home of Beech nut foods.
And there's a world class art museum there, too:
The Arkell Museum was started by one of the founders of beechnut as a way to bring some culture to the backwoods. He even went so far as to hire a classical pianist to play on lunch breaks.
It's right on the Mohawk:
A dummy light:
The Plant building is still there:
Nice waterfall:
The cinders were a little too mushy, so I stayed on the dry portion of the trail. I turned around at the next lock:
Unfortunately, Beech nut built a new factory down the road:
Hope you enjoyed it. I'm keeping plenty busy here.
Hopping down to Memphis Town
Yes, folks it's that time once again:
As usual, I started out at Albany. I'm flying the Friendly Skies today:
No more 737's to CLT:
Since it's good Friday. I stopped in the Prayer room:
An amerijet flight to CVG:
Free Wi-Fi!
Cape Air to BOS:
Then I went down stairs and waited. Soon, we were off to Newark(Commutair Bombardier Dash8-q200):
Ashokan Reservoir in the Catskills:

Gear down:

Where I had the Blue Suede Burger:
while wearing my blue suede shoes:
Yes, I know I should have fasted on Good Friday, but I reverted to Calvinism this weekend.
