Canajoharie
I took a trip out to Canajoharie, NY this afternoon. It started out as a Indian village, and is now a small town best known as the home of Beech nut foods.
And there's a world class art museum there, too:
The Arkell Museum was started by one of the founders of beechnut as a way to bring some culture to the backwoods. He even went so far as to hire a classical pianist to play on lunch breaks.
It's right on the Mohawk:
A dummy light:
The Plant building is still there:
Nice waterfall:
The cinders were a little too mushy, so I stayed on the dry portion of the trail. I turned around at the next lock:
Unfortunately, Beech nut built a new factory down the road:
Hope you enjoyed it. I'm keeping plenty busy here.
